Once Upon a Time...

Once upon a time, I was a dancer. I LOVE to dance. I danced all through elementary, junior high, and high school. I loved it. I also had the opportunity to teach some classes. I did tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. When I went to BYU I was in a tap company. I've missed dancing so so much. There isn't much opportunity for adults to dance, which is sad to me. In January, I was looking through our city recreation booklet and noticed that they were offering a hip hop class for moms. So, I signed up. It's been so much fun. Too bad the class is only for a short while, but I sure am enjoying it for the time. Hopefully they'll continue to hold more classes for adults. I LOVE it!

You're like me then... I've danced since I was 18 months old. Good for you getting out there and dancing!!

I've yet to find a really good studio for mommies-- I've gone to a few, but never been that impressed. If I can't find a good one... I think I'll start one... want to come and help me!!!?? :)

I agree. Good for you. It sounds like a blast. I've actually been thinking the same thing about my music. I used to play guitar, sing, write my own music... I can't even remember the last time I did any of that....

That sounds like so much fun. I love to dance, too, just am a little self-conscious. My daughter at BYU really LOVES dancing and has been in a couple of senior dance projects.

I hope you continue to enjoy this class.

Good for you! I'm so glad you decided to sign up, and were able to do something that you enjoy so much. I'm actually starting violin lessons in a few weeks, and I'm so excited! It's something I've always wanted to do, and sometimes as moms we just need to DO it!!

Thanks for the sweet comment!

I love(d) dancing. I haven't danced in years. I miss it too. After high school I realized my dancing days were over. :(

I used to run the Continuing Education Dept for Dance! There are so many campuses that offer Ballet and other dance basics you would love. I believe the classes are set to run for 10 weeks at a time. I am not teaching there anymore but I had only adults and most of my students were in their late 20's-40's and just wanting to come back for fun and excercise. My oldest student was this woman named Betty who was 64 and such a trooper! She was a beginner and so inspiring She always wanted to take dance and decided to start now.

I take but with the younger students and the adult classes at the local ballet company.

If i start teaching again I will let you know, I would love to have you in my class! I try and make them FUN!!!!

Thanks for the visit!

I've never been a dancer but have always wanted to. Whenever I see those classes, I am so tempted to sign up. I am glad you did and I am glad it's turned out to be what you needed!

That's awesome. I'm sure you'll be able to find more classes like that.

What years were you at BYU? I did tap in 94 and 95, I think it was. Mostly, I performed with Dancensemble (so did Allysha from Bells on Their Toes - don't know if you read her blog or not). I didn't get to know any of the other tappers at all. I was so busy I just came and went... but maybe we were on the team at the same time?!?! Did you wear pigtails back then? Lol.

I hear you on the lack of adult instruction...especially if you're not a beginner. I rarely talk about it either, but I studied dance from age 5 on and attended a performing arts high school in dance. I didn't decide to go with music until I applied for college!
