Frustration

I am so confused and frustrated. For some reason almost once a year, we have a huge life-changing decision to make. It's such a pain. Right now we have 3 options to choose from.

#1
For the last little while we have been debating whether or not we want to move to Texas. I would LOVE to be there to be with my sister txmommy. We are each other's best friend. Our kids get along so well and it would be so great if they could grow up together. My parents also live there which would be great. The kids would love being with their grandparents. The problems with moving to Texas are the facts that we don't have a job there, and we don't have the money to move there. I hate money. We are really struggling right now. It sucks! I think living in Texas we would be able to save money because we would live with my parents. They are empty-nesters living in a big house. So, there's room for us, and we would love it. So, Texas has lots of bonuses, we just don't know how to get there. Ahhhhhh!

DH is working for T-Mobile. He loves his job. It just doesn't pay much. When you work on commission, they take 40% out in taxes regardless of how many exemptions you claim. Which means we aren't bringing home much money at all. Next month I'll start babysitting a little newborn which will help (a little). I'm also making calls everyday, which pays a little. But, we are still tight. In fact, I don't really know how we are surviving. We are making much less than we have for a long time. So stress big time. But, we love living in Utah. We have great friends here. Some of DH's family lives here. The kids have good friends and go to a great school. We love the seasons. We love the scenery. We are comfortable here. It's a great place to live, it's just so darn expensive for us.

DH went to a job interview yesterday and got offered a position with IM Flash Technologies. It's a great company. Our brother-in-law works there and he's doing really well. He's been there for 5 years, and is now a manager. They paid for his schooling, and now they are paying him a pretty healthy salary. Potential there is great. Of course, DH would be starting at the bottom of the chain. But, the opportunity to go up in ranks is great and they mostly promote from within. Pay wise we would be about the same as we are with T-Mobile, but I think the potential is better with this company. However, it's a totally different field than what DH has been doing for the last 10 years. He's been in sales, and this is very different. He'd be starting off making memory chips for computers. I know in the future there will be more technological advances, so it's a pretty secure job. He's a great worker and I'm sure he'd do well there, I just don't know if he wants to.

So, what to do? What to do? Crappy thing is we have to tell IM Flash our decision by tomorrow. I hate this. I wish we had money. I have know idea what to do. I have a headache. I'm complaining I know. I wish I had some sort of revelation that would tell me what to do. Ahhhhh!

First off, is #3 in the same area as you are now?

In my opinion, #2 would be last on the list. I really really really like being near my family, so for me that would put #1 high on my list. I can't imagine my brother and parents living in a different state, especially once they have my nieces and nephews. And since you could potentially be saving money at your parents house, that ranks it a little higher. Could he transfer to a different T Mobile store in Texas, at least temporarily?

#3 could be a nice change, but for some reason it doesn't jump out as the perfect solution. But again, that's because I am so into family being near.

Good luck with your decision.

I will pray for you guys. These kinds of things are so hard. I would do what you feel is best for you guys. Do you think moving near your family would make you happier even though your hubby would have to struggle with finding a job? It is hard to live far from family. We don't live near any family, but we do live closer than you do. We tend to do what is gonna make us happier as a family, and you def need money, as much as it sucks, and since you have 4 kids, I think the new job sounds like a good possibility. I'm just rambling now, so I'll end this. But I will pray for ya'll.

Oh big decisions are so hard! I don't really have any great advice. Just prayer and fasting is always good. Good luck! {{{{HUGS!!}}}}

I always just pray that the decision is made for you. Just go with your gut if you can, and sometimes you have to just let things stop swirling around in your mind (if possible) and then see how you feel about it!

That's a tough one. I'd agree with fasting and prayer and also maybe at this time in your life having your family around would help.. and since you can live with your parents, it may get you on your feet and give your husband time to find a job.
It sounds like he is experienced and could find one quickly, or at least transfer with T-Mobile.
Moving is expensive, but it sounds like it may be worth it for you!
I hope whatever you decide, everything works out for you.

I'm so sorry. It's hard when things are that tight. I know the feeling well myself. I will pray you can make the decision that is best for your family.

I can understand your situation perfectly. We've made a lot of good and bad decisions over the years, but I think the best thing we've figured out is that it's good to stick with a company and move up within. We've job "hopped" a lot and it seems like we had to start over each time. If we'd just stayed with one place long enough, we could have worked up to a better position much sooner. That's just the experience we've had in the past.

I agree that prayer is the best option. Only you and hubby will know for sure what's best for your family. Best case scenario is that you'll be picking among options that all might turn out well. Good luck! :)

Those are some tough decisions. I understand the money situation. We've been barely making ends meet and been very lucky to have family helping us. I hope that you guys can figure out a solution. And its totally not fair the time frame they gave you!

If your leaning toward Texas theres got to be a way to get there. From reading your blog, I've concluded that you come from a really great family. It would be hard to live so far away.

Big decisions are hard. I wish you the best of luck with everything.

Maybe he can take the new job until you figure out a way to get to Texas. Take this new job and continue to look for work (in the Texas area). You'll find a way. The Lord has blessed you this far. Just keep on praying and you'll both find an answer.

I have to lean toward moving to Texas. If you could live with your parents to save money, it sounds like a great fit. The plus would be that you'll have so much more family around. Family makes everything seem better. Don't stress, things seem to always fall into place.

Hey you! I think that you are correct in who you think I am! Viva your sister's swimming pool! I, personally, love choice #1. We'd love to have you in Texas---but I hope that all will work out for the best for your family! By the way...how is your back? If you moved here, I know a good chiropractor!
