Gratitude Day ~ Take 10

This week I am so so so grateful for seatbelts. On Tuesday we were in a horrible car accident. I was the only one hurt and I know we were protected by seat belts. It was such a scary thing for all of us, especially the kids. I know things could've been much worse had we not been buckled up.

S spilled some ice water all over himself in the back of our van. So, he got out of his seat belt crying that it was too cold to sit down. I told him over and over again to buckle up. He didn't want to. Finally I told him to put M's jacket down and sit on it. Luckily he obeyed. Not even 2 minutes later we were rear-ended. He would've been badly hurt had he not been buckled in. I know Heavenly Father was watching over us.

I had to go to the ER in an ambulance because I had an injured neck and back. The kids were pretty freaked out, but luckily none of them were hurt. We had no cuts or scratches. DH has a sore neck and back today, but our injuries are very minor considering what they could've been.

So, this week I am especially grateful for seat belts!!

One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life.
This really bothered him and he questioned the LORD about it:
"LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you, you'd walk with me all the way.But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."The LORD replied:
"My son, my precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you."

I know that the Lord carried us through this horrible accident and that without him in our lives we would be worse off than we are right now.

So sorry to hear about your accident. I hope everyone continues to recover. It bothers me so much when I see kids without seatbelts and I wonder why their parents wouldn't just take the extra time to buckle them in.
You were blessed that day. What a great thing to be grateful for.

That is my favorite poem ever. I've loved it since I was a kid, and my favorite blanket has that poem on it.

I'm sorry for all of you. Car accidents are never any fun. I hope you get back to your normal self really soon.

That is so sad about your car accident! Thankfully you guys had seatbelts on because of your diligence. I hope you all recover soon and there is no lingering trauma.

Good luck! :)

I'm really grateful your little guy obeyed and put his seat belt on. Sorry you have to go through such a yucky experience, but what a testimony-builder of obedience.

Hope you're feeling better soon.

Accidents really hit the body AND mind. I was in one with my oldest son a couple years ago -- UGH! God will see you through.

I am glad you are all okay. What a tragedy it COULD have been. You are right, Heavenly Father certainly protected each of the DaviesSix.
