Early Morning Scare

Last night DH and I went to bed very exhausted. Our four darlings were snuggled sound asleep in their beds, we were snuggled sound asleep in our bed. We awoke to the sound that no one wants to wake up to. Our fire alarms started going off. I've never seen DH get out of bed as fast as he did. We both hopped up and headed for the kids rooms to go get them, but then the alarms stopped. We checked every room in the house, the basement, the garage, and the outside. Nothing. We checked to make sure all the kids were okay, they were. My heart was racing so fast, I was scared to death. Then they went off again. They don't have batteries, so we knew it wasn't that. Then we thought maybe it was the carbon monoxide detector, it wasn't. I still don't know what it was, all I know that is that I was scared. It took me at least an hour to get back to sleep. I am SO grateful that nothing happened.

Ohh, that is scary! Every parent's worst nightmare, fire alarms in the middle of the night. Glad it was just a false alarm. At least you know now that they will wake you up. I worry about that. Glad to hear you are all safe. I hope you can rest better this evening.

How stressful! Hopefully it doesn't happen again tonight! I would have had a hard time falling back asleep too.

Scary! We had the same thing happen when we moved into our house. It happened two nights in a row. The second night they never went off, just kept beeping until the electrician got here about 10 in the morning. Turned out it was a problem with the wiring on one, when one goes off they are programmed to all go off.

Hope yours was just a fluke and you sleep through the night tonight!

Our detectors have done that around 1am -- talk about a scare is right! And do you know my boys slept thru it??? CRAZY!

Just a thought, they may need to be cleaned out with a vacuum. Many detectors go off when they get too much dust in them
